The sun is just peeking over the horizon, throwing shafts of light across my garden. As the air warms, a light breeze begins to stir, gently moving the leaves, making the light dance and the dew sparkle as it catches the sun. The birds sing their morning song and a bee drifts from flower to flower. In the garden it is easy to get lost in these moments and that’s what makes it so calming. It is a reset of the hectic mind.
In my garden I’m always amazed by the daily changes. The subtle differences as plants grow and the micro climates they create. I notice the sun shifts where it lands as the seasons change. I can see clearly when a plant is thriving and I see the change as it starts to struggle as a pest comes along or a nutrient is missing.
I drift from plant to plant like that bee, tending to them to make them happy and flourish again. My mind is focused on the task and all worries and busy thoughts are forgotten. My garden has become a place where I seek refuge when I am feeling overwhelmed. It brings me back so I can be happy and flourish again.
